Historical Chemistry Question?

I am having trouble finding information for this question from my chemistry teacher. A question chemistry history. Silicon carbide is a ceramic material used in grinding wheels and cutting tools. What American city was famous home to the manufacture of silicon carbide in the 1930s? There is a very important reason why companies have chosen this city to build factories for manufacturing Silicon carbide is. A. Detroit B. Akron, Ohio Little Rock CDE Pittsburgh Niagara Falls Anyone have any ideas?

I think it would be Pittsburgh, which is also known as "Steeltown", because it is the main industry of steel and metal production. It seems to me (and I guess just here) that Pittsburgh would be the place where the grinding materials and equipment would be most needed, because of the proximity of the steel.
